Artist's Description
I spent most of my summers traveling by train from Colorado to Nebraska where my mom's family lived.
Both of her sisters married farmers so I spent idyllic days exploring old barns, climbing over farm equipment, and catching frogs.
I'll never forget those days
.
One uncle raised chickens and one summer they had a rooster who was truely the king of the coop! I was fairly little and scared to death of him!! : )
My aunt and her husband are in their 90's now, still healthy and active...maybe owing to a spartan life of hard work and clean living on their farm.
I recently made a card out of this image, a digital painting / study from a photograph, for their birthdays.
About Jephyr Art
I've always been interested in art but had done little more than sketch all my life...and even then I drew mostly just cartoony, line drawings. A few years ago, I decided to take a number of computer art courses at a nearby community college. I met an artist in one of those classes who became a friend and he encouraged me to look into Fine Art classes at the same school. It turns out they have a great Fine Art program teaching traditional techniques of color theory, design, drawing, life drawing/anatomy, oil painting, photography and more. I've learned so much (knowing I still have a LOT to learn) and after having nearly completed a Fine Art and Digital Illustration degree I now have a little more confidence to begin to present...

You're welcome! Your artwork is amazing and I was reading your bio, read that after some time, you got back into your art on an art degree program. Similarly, I recently did the same about 8 months ago for a certificate program at the Art Museum and have begun studying drawing and oil painting in the style of Realism.
